Mari Hanby grew up in Finland but moved to New York in her 20's where she worked as a web designer. Her interest in design led her to a passion for creating jewelry. Many of her designs are inspired by water scenes - the Atlantic and her lake adventures. She finds that discovering new materials is an endless journey. There is always a new technique to try. Every piece is different and unique in its own way, even if it's based on the same basic design or technique. Mari's copper jewelry is handcrafted using hand tools - she enames with a torch, flames with a smaller torch and does a lot of hammering. The hand stamped coin jewelry is created using genuine vintage coins from Europe or other parts of the world. Gemstone beaded creations are wire wrapped using pure copper, brass, silver filled brass or silver plated copper wire. All designs are original and unique.
